Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This design is for all you fellow cat lovers! I have always been an animal lover, but cats hold a special place in my heart. I originally created this hat as a one-off, but to my surprise, I have gotten many compliments on it, even from non-knitters, that I made it into a pattern so you can make your own cat-themed hat!
Knitting: Vest
As soon as I touched the gorgeous yarn I used for this vest, a design began to form in my mind. It needed to be cozy yet flowy, earthy yet refined: signatures of A Verb for Keeping Warm’s vibe, if not my own, as well :) You can think of this garment as a wearable shawl, and it’s just about as easy to knit! Constructed sideways in two halves, th...
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This design came to life outside of Lander, Wyoming, in an area called Wild Iris, which lies within the ancestral lands of the Crow people. Wild Iris is one of my favorite high-elevation, summer climbing destinations. Yes, even in the heat of July and August, I try to spend time in places where I can wear cozy knits—at least on the occasional e...
Knitting: Pullover
I named this design the Meander Sweater because the colorwork incorporates the Greek Maiandros, also known as the “key” or “meander” pattern. The meander was an important symbol in Ancient Greece, symbolizing infinity or the eternal flow of things. Meander also reflects my favorite way to experience nature—unhurried, without expectation, rambli...
Knitting: Sleeveless Top
Every time I encounter a paintbrush flower, I can’t help but momentarily lose my breath. It feels like some kind of miracle that these springy bursts of color could be real, living things. Paintbrush flowers, members of the genus Castilleja, are a symbol of transformation, inner knowing, and creativity.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
I designed these socks while in the Bighorn Mountains, much of which lie within the ancestral lands of the Cheyenne and Crow peoples. Named after Cloud Peak, the tallest mountain within Bighorn Mountains, these toe-up socks knit up surprisingly quickly. The 1x1 ribbing lends a snug fit, and a leaf motif adds that little something extra to draw ...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Inspired by the sub-alpine flowers of Wyoming’s Bighorn Mountains, I designed this shawl to play with flower motifs in three techniques: texture, lace, and stranded mosaic knitting. I designed it to only require 3 skeins of yarn (1 skein each of 3 colors) so that you, too, might be inspired to use up those precious lone skeins in your stash!
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap, Scarf
Alpine aster (Aster alpinus) is a flowering plant that grows in open spaces and rocky, well-drained soils. In Estes Park, Colorado, it can often be found in the company of big sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata) and its vibrant, purple-rayed flowers dot the subalpine landscape in May and June. The textured stitch pattern in this shawlette is remin...
Knitting: Pullover
The Mesa Dreams Tee is a textural ode to the southwest, with the desert’s sparse beauty and muted hues knitted into every stitch.
Knitting: Pullover
We can’t choose the circumstances of our lives, but we can choose to be the remedy, to be the light. I believe we choose this each and every moment, even in the simplest of acts: making coffee, texting a friend, cooking a meal, and—of course—knitting. Stitch by stitch, we infuse our energy into the garments we create. So, if we can choose, what...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
May the Cimarron Shawl be an opportunity to feel what you need to feel and a canvas for your gratitude, whatever that looks like for you in this season.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
I loved the colorwork motifs that I created for the Taos Shawl so much that I decided to translate them into socks!
Knitting: Pullover
The Carmel Formation is the thin layer of creamy limestone that is visible as short mesas and flat peak caps in eastern Zion National Park, the traditional territories of the Nuwuvi and Pueblo peoples. Deposited by a shallow sea 180 to 160 million years ago, the rock left behind is characterized by upward swirling bands and checkered cracks. In...
Knitting: Pullover
After knitting countless sweaters for myself, my partner was getting…let’s just say…a little envious…of the ever-growing stash of cozy woolen goodness in my closet. So, I finally created a garment with him in mind. Manitou is a classic, easy-to-wear sweater that is equally suited to casual gatherings with friends and chilly autumn hikes in the ...
Knitting: Cowl
We still might feed the dark thing in us
Knitting: Pullover
I designed Kindred with Mary Oliver’s poem, When I Am Among the Trees, in mind. What would I want to wear while wandering through a sun-dappled forest, journal and pen in hand, as Mary Oliver herself often did? What designs and textures could I incorporate that would remind me that—like the rustling leaves on a clear autumn day—I too am filled ...
Knitting: Cowl
The Aberration Cowl is the perfect accessory for when fall ushers in cooler air and you crave a hint of coziness in your wardrobe. The colorwork motif is inspired by the way old window glass turns the changing leaves into an impressionist painting of autumn hues. With a 2-stitch repeat that is easy to memorize, this cowl knits up quickly. Curat...
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
I designed this hat while in the Bighorn Mountains, much of which lie within the ancestral lands of the Cheyenne and Crow peoples. Named after Cloud Peak, the tallest mountain within this range, this beanie-style hat is a classic choice for chilly winter days. The allover 1x1 ribbing knits up quickly and lends a cozy fit. A leaf motif adds that...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Like its namesake city Taos, which is situated on the ancestral lands of the Taos Pueblo people, this shawl layers southwestern motifs and playful pops of color onto a calming neutral canvas. Alternating sections of garter stitch, lace, and mosaic colorwork will keep your interest as this shawl grows.

Winter Sage is that timeless raglan you reach for again and again whether you are planning for an evening out with friends or cozying up at home with tea and a good book. A scooped neckline creates an elegant silhouette and an assortment of cables adorn the center front.
