This pattern has been adapted (with their permission and thanks) from the much loved Virus shawl by Julia Marquardt and the Deichspielerei by Birgit Reuner.

When I designed this ones big sister the “Marigold square” I was asked about size and if it could be made small or only a small section used as a lot of people wanted a centre piece or just something a bit smaller.

I loved making the Virus Shawl and thought it might be nice to have a hat to match.

This set used 289m/316yds of Stylecraft Alpaca DK.

If you work a row of single crochet into your starting chain this would give a firm edge for a scarf and finish the same way.

This pattern is a mix of flowers crocheted into the pattern and some motifs made and then sewn on afterwards. Only basic sewing skills are required.
