Knitting: Ankle Sock
Sometimes I receive requests to try to duplicate a pattern for a vintage type sock, in that it is an old sock and there is no pattern for it. This sock is a case in point. A friend of mine sent me a picture of a sock and asked if I could figure it our and knit a pair for her. I do love these projects as it is like a mystery that has to be solve...
Knitting: Ankle Sock
There are times that I really just like to knit a simple pair of socks that don’t require a maze of pattern graphs but are simple enough to just memorize the repeat. I call this pattern the Banner Flag Socks because it has a wonderful triangle repeat that looks like those triangle banner flags that you see blowing in the wind at a special event.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
I love incorporating cables into socks! And this is a pattern that I have wanted to do for a long while. A long cable with rib sock to give the close fit around the ankle and foot. This pattern does just that. The cable is not a difficult cable but the results look like a complex cable.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Some time ago I had knitted this style of sock for my husband and he has been wearing them for a couple of years now.I had knitted them using Lorna Laces Shepard Sock Yarn in a color called Navy Pier (Pictured below: variegated sea greens and blues). The pattern is original and have put it on paper. The sock is ribbed with a cable link chain pa...
Knitting: Ankle Sock
This is an original sock pattern made up using a Double Cross Cable and a Chain Cable pattern. It is a fun sock to knit and challenging for the intermediate knitter. The results of the double cable for the leg and then a chain cable running down the foot is just beautiful!
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
The Last week of July, 2011 a customer sent me a photo of a pair of socks that she wanted to have knitted for her. It was an interesting project in that I had never really gotten an order like that. I tried looking for the pattern and asked the question to the different chat rooms I belong to…but never got an answer so…I decided to try to dupli...
Knitting: Ankle Sock
This is my take on Braided Cable with Seed stitch socks. These are a combination of braided cable with seed stitch. The results made me think of Irish Fisherman sweaters. I love cable patterns and hope that you will too. These were knitted on US 1 dpn. A very fine feeling and tight knit. The yarn was Knit Picks Bare Fingering, merino/nylon. I h...
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Everyone needs a basic sock pattern. This has been my basic classic cable sock that I have knitted and developed over the years. Very simple and easy to memorize it has always been that sock that I go to for a quick gift or just if I need another pair of sock. I’ve knitted these for my husband who, by the way, has the biggest collection of hand...
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Have always like Irish Fisherman’s Cable Sweaters…actually just love combinations of cables and seed stitches. I knitted this pair of socks a while ago and took another look at it and decided to knit another pair, but this time I put the pattern down on paper. Love sharing this pattern. I knitted it in a beautiful aqua blue (better to see the ...
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
When I first knitted these it was because I needed a pair of mitts that I could use during my early morning brisk walks. My fingers would become cold and although I would wear mittens or gloves there was always that time that I would have to take the gloves off to tie my shoe laces. So I thought what about a longer fingerless mitt, that covered...
Knitting: Component (stitch, edge) - Other
This is a pattern that I had created for the back heel of my Heart Clog Socks. It was fun to do and thought it might be a good pattern to share. It can be used for other projects (graph included on the pattern sheet) or incorporated in projects that you are creating. Although this was created for a particular heel on a sock the graph can be use...
Knitting: Ankle Sock
The Short Sports Sock for anyone interested in knitting a pair of “retro” style sport socks. I remember wearing this style while I played a round of tennis in high school and it brought back memories. Fun to do and a great gift. Hopefully this pattern is written so that anyone who tries it will be able to do it in short time. Enjoy the project ...
