Around the middle of February, I am done – just done, with winter. The nights are dark and long; the days are cloudy and gloomy. The temperatures fluctuate much like the ripples in this scarf. However, like the colors in this scarf, we often have some brilliantly colorful sunrises and sunsets – if you watch for them.

A feminine cloche-styled hat with plenty of texture to draw the eye. This stitch pattern reminds me of a dahlia flower with its soft, scooping petals. The hat is accented by a delicate picot edging.

This is a simple crocheted trivet or potholder that is made from 100% wool which can then be felted to tighten the stitches. It is crocheted in the round using a 2-row repetitive pattern.

This cabled hat design was inspired by all the birch and aspen leaves that were falling and floating around our surrounding woods last fall. It has small cables around the edges to frame the design and simulate the blades of the leaf. Larger cables become the ribs of the leaf.

The recommended yarn for this bag is a cotton/acrylic blend - the cotton in the yarn makes it soft and the acrylic adds some stability. 100% cotton yarn can also be used although it may “grow” with time.

This headband came about because I wanted something to keep the hair away from my face, but I have thick hair (and a big head?) and therefore most commercial headbands are too tight. I came up with the idea of using a sock yarn with stretchy elastic to do most of the work in creating a comfortable headband.
