Knitting: Beanie, Toque
When I published my octopus cowl and octopus yoked sweater, several people wrote to me and requested an octopus beanie. My aim was to produce something a little bit quirky which would make people smile - and so the anthropomorphic octopus was born!

This is a reversible cowl with dodos front and back on the outside and a Douglas Adams quote on the inside: “It’s easy to think that as a result of the extinction of the dodo, we are now sadder and wiser, but there’s a lot of evidence to suggest we are merely sadder and better informed,” which I felt captured the issue of mass species extinctio...

This is a reversible cowl with an Octopus on the outside and a Terry Pratchett quote on the inside: “The Kraken stirs and ten billion sushi dinners cry out for vengeance”. I based this motif on my popular octopus sweater design after a number of knitters asked for something a bit smaller and quicker to complete than an entire sweater.

Knitting: Cowl
The Reversible Puffin Cowl was inspired by a ball of leftover sock wool in colours reminiscent of a puffin’s beak. I decided to line it - and include a joyful message in the lining: Living my Best Life, also in puffin-beak shades (officially known as Opal 4-ply Showbiz sock yarn 11396 – Theater).

Queen of the Forest is knitted top down in the round using a 3-ply/superfine/fingering weight yarn. Although the yoke looks impressively complicated, it is actually fairly easy to knit. At no point are more than 2 colours being worked at the same time.
Knitting: Cowl
This cowl design was inspired by my cat, who is the most inept mouser in the entire history of cats and yet also the most confident in his own hunting abilities. He is 14 now and is yet to bag his first rodent. But a cat can still dream…
