Crochet: Beanie, Toque
Starting from the bottom and working up this fun Entrelac beanie uses single crochet, chain, slip stitch and split single crochet. Although the beanie is worked in the round, each triangle and block are worked in rows. The tapestry crochet band is added at the end.
Knitting: Scarf
I wasn’t sure what I wanted to name this design until I had it blocked. That was when I realized that the snowflake colorwork on the ends reminded me of damask. Damask is an intricately woven and reversible fabric originally made in Damascus. Also, appropriately given the wool/silk blend of Empire, it was made of silk and wool. Hope you enjoy m...
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This is the perfect wardrobe addition to bridge between those cool, early Spring days to the cool Fall evenings. A unique construction and soft, squishy fabric ramps up the wear-ability factor. Why not make several?
Knitting: Poncho
Worked side to side in horizontal lace panels this airy poncho is the perfect summer accessory. Slip it on in an over air conditioned office or on those cooler evenings. Enjoy!
Crochet: Scarf
In 2017 I designed a knit pattern for the LYS tour. It is called the Ripple Effect. Since then I have had numerous requests from crocheters for a similar design. I’ve always been fascinated by Tunisian crochet Thus the Tunisian Ripple was born. Enjoy!
Knitting: Pullover
When my daughter was younger, we had a lot of page-a-day calendars. Each year, she saved the pages from her birthday until she had quite a collection. Instead of taking the page out of my 365 Day Knitting calendar, I designed her a sweater highlighting the herringbone lace rib pattern! This is a springy take on the original design.
Crochet: Fingerless Gloves
As the glaciers of the last ice age receded from the land of what would become know as the Pacific North West, they left mountains and ridges in their wake. Almost like a giant hand had clawed across the landscape. These cable mitts reflect the PNW landscape.
Knitting: Cowl
What’s in a name? The marble comes from the lovely hand dyed, semi solid yarn. The columns come from the straight lines made by the lace stitches.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
The thing about the virus, is that you have a lot of time on your hands. During some of those idle nights I decided to play with brioche and a lovely squishy new yarn.
Crochet: Washcloth / Dishcloth
This exfoliating washcloth crocheted out of antimicrobial nettle is easy to make and leaves your skin tingling. Don’t be worried by the stiff feel to the washcloth when you finish crocheting it softens with use.
Knitting: Skirt
Knit in fingering weight yarn this flippy, swirly, top down skirt will make you want to twirl. What a great way to welcome spring!
Crochet: Poncho
A manteau was a rectangle of fabric with a hole cut in the center for the head. It gradually developed into a cloak and eventually became the coat we know today. This is my take on the original.
Knitting: Vest
This retro unisex vest will be a great addition to any wardrobe. Knit in Apple Fiber Studio’s Pippin, it could easily become your go to favorite.
Knitting: Pullover
Sunshine Island is a state of mind in the Pacific Northwest. It’s that place where we all want to escape in February when it’s gray and rainy. Knit out of Apple Fiber Studio’s new yarn Opal, this sweater is sure to brighten your day.
Knitting: Scarf
Mixed Media was designed for the 2018 LYS Tour. It’s a scarf that combines sections of 2-color brioche, two types of lace, and 2-color brioche cables.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This pattern reminds me of the rock ridges on Mount Shuksan in the Cascade range.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
I’ve become fascinated with the lovely collections of mini skeins that are available and decided to make this fun hat. For even more color fun you can reverse your colors and have a totally different hat!
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
On Labor Day weekend 2016 Apple Yarns had it’s first retreat. We stayed in Whitefish, MT (a lovely town) and spent a wonderful day in Glacier National Park. This hat is my way of celebrating the occasion and the great people who shared the retreat.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Jazz up any outfit with this cozy shawl. Subtle colors will bring class to an evening on the town, or show your team pride with your favorite sports team colors. Either way, you’ll be the envy of the crowd.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Designed for the 2017 LYS Tour, Ripple Effect is a generous bias shawl in a simple Shetland lace pattern.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque, Cowl
Mosaic knitting looks complicated but it is really one of the easiest forms of color work. You only use one yarn at a time and slip the alternate color stitches from the row below. This is a great project for a mini skein collection or get full skeins and have four different hats or cowls.
Crochet: Billed Hat
I was binge watching one night when I came across this great show. So this newsboy hat is my homage to “Peaky Blinders”.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
I fell in love with this simple and fun slip stitch pattern while working on another project. The two contrasting colors of Kureyon just add to the fun.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This was the prototype for Elfin Breeze. I played with both shaping and lace and came up with a very wearable shawl that stays on your shoulders. The lace reminded me of rain running down a window pane.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
I’ve been wondering for quite a while how the shaping used in a top-down sweater would work in a shawl. So when I was asked to design a pattern for our local yarn shop tour this year I jumped at the chance to explore. One definite benefit it stays on your shoulders!
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
The biggest winter industry/sport in near Bellngham is skying at Mt. Baker. The colors and the snowflake design suggest a beautiful winter day with lots of powder.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
Asymittrical is a fun little fingerless mitt with a nice squooshy wrist cable and a simple workable edge around the fingers. It is great for those chilly mornings or those ice box offices. The texture free edge makes typing and writing easy, while still giving you the warmth you need. Knit up a quick pair and be the envy of the office.
Crochet: Cowl
Is Winter arriving soon, or perhaps your office just cranks the AC to high? This quick crocheted cowl might be just what you need to keep your neck and shoulders cozy.
Knitting: Poncho
I’ve always been fascinated by Shetland lace. Even more so when it’s done in chunky yarn and big needles. This poncho is a great modern look that will keep the chill away on those autumn evenings. Throw this over your shoulders and you’re ready for those crisp Fall days.
Knitting: Hats - Other
This lined lace hat was inspired by the beauty of the forests of the Pacific Northwest. Knit the lace hat or the plain hat or combine them for a truly unique look. The Forest Through the Trees hat will make a fun accessory for any season.
Crochet: Fingerless Gloves
This pattern can be made in 3 sizes by changing the hook size. Small and Medium use the same number of stitches but change from a size G to a size H hook. The mitt is designed to have a snug fit at the wrist. The shell cuff is worked from the wrist down then the single crochet hand is worked from the wrist up.
Knitting: Coffee / Tea Pot
This tea cozy is worked both in the round and flat to make room for the handle and spout. It is made for a 4 to 6 cup pot but could be made taller before the second joining. To make it larger you would need 2 balls of yarn. The buttonhole tab is worked sideways on live stitches left from the bind-off. Adding a big button makes it even more fun.
Knitting: Beret, Tam
This fun beret has just a touch of lace and is sized for newborn to 12 years. I’ve also included a suggestion for a plain version using Simplicity multis.
Knitting: Beret, Tam
I design many of my patterns for classes or workshops. This hat worked well for getting the optimum number of color switches in a 2 1/2 hour session. I was pleasantly surprised when the varigated yarn created a lovely swirl effect.
