My son grew out of his tractor jumper and since it was one of his favourites I knew I had to make another one in a bigger size. I re-charted the tractor to make it nice and big on the jumper.

I have a friend you designs yachts so when he had a baby I knew I wanted to make a yacht theme outfit. I also knew that these knitted versions needed to look just like an actual yacht! I picked a light blue colour to represent the sea and the black for the yachts to make them look like they are silhouetted.

My friends are weight lifters so I knew exactly what I wanted to add as a motif to the cardigan I made for their baby. This little strong baby adds the perfect touch to this snuggly warm cardigan, perfect as an extra layer.

I just can’t resist cute baby hats and I wanted to do one with ear flaps to make it extra warm. I used a stitch pattern which uses paired increases and decreases to create a bumby hattern reminiscent of soft prickles to make this hedgehog hat.

Every weekend we drive past a field with cows and my daughter always loves looking at them. She started asking me for a cow hat a while ago but I put it off as I wasn’t quite sure how to do it. However she kept asking so after a lot of time spent looking at pictures of cows on the internet I made this. We are both very pleased with it.

My daughter’s friend recently got kittens and my daughter has gotten obsessed with all things cat. This inspired me to make her her very own kitten hat. I expected to wear it outside for walks but she has been wearing it almost constantly while pretending to be a kitten!

My niece is unicorn mad so I made this jumper for her 6th birthday. It is made with DK yarn on 3.75mm and 4mm and the pattern is worked on the front in intarsia (the back is plain). It is a dropped shoulder jumper which is an easy shape to knit.

Babies love toys with different textures, smiling faces and noise. This butterfly has all that with it’s variously textured body and wings, rattle and squeakers. I used soft DK yarn that’s also washable to make it easy to care for too.

My daughter’s favourite toy is a puppy with his tongue sticking out. She takes this puppy everywhere so I decided to make her a jumper featuring him. I put the puppy design on both the front and the back and she loves it.

With Christmas approaching on of my family members asked for a pink octopus hat with purple eyes. Well be careful what you ask for! I designed this hat and knitted it up in hot pink yarn and when they opened it on Christmas day they were delighted. I am especially pleased with the sucker detailing on the octopus’ tentacles.

As a knitter I love to knit for all new arrivals. Having spent a lot of time with my baby I have found that fun rattles, especially if they also have crinkly bits, provide hours of fun for babies. I designed this rattle to give to a friend for their new baby.

I made this cute panda rattle toy for a friends baby. The handle is the perfect size for a little hand to hold and the rattle means they love to shake it. I also put crinkle material in the ears for added interest.

Having a baby may have limited my knitting time but it inspired me to make this octopus. Ollie has interestingly textured tentacles which are the perfect size for baby to hold.

I used 2 100g balls of comfort DK in mint for the background, a 100g ball of white from my stash and a 50g ball of black from my stash.
