Crochet: Headwrap
Gauge and yardage are estimations. Use any yarn and a hook larger than that recommended for the yarn.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
Yarn weight, hook size, and gauge are approximations. All are up to the user, although any Tunisian stitch requires a hook larger than normally associated with the weight of yarn used.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
The name of this shawl has a story. A dear friend recently suggested I start naming patterns for songs, because I have a long history with vocal and choral music. I don’t really see this as the “Oops! I did it again!” shawl or “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” shawl. Phydilé is a beautiful song by M. Henri Duparc, which I sang on my graduate voice reci...
Crochet: Pullover
This pattern suggests using the sizing of the end user or using measurements gleaned from online sizing charts. Gauge is suggested. In this case it is good to determine one’s own gauge and do the math.
Crochet: Cardigan
This sweater is composed of two front panels, a back panel, and two sleeves. It is good to be able to measure the end user of the garment, or a similar sweater that fits well.
Crochet: Cowl
This cowl can be any size you wish, and could also be adjusted to create an infinity scarf or a traditional scarf. There is an optional hood described.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This is an intermediate level pattern because of the Tunisian stitches involved.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This can be a dainty women’s scarf or a hardy wrap. The sleeves are optional, but the method for the rectangle is the same regardless. For scarf and wrap dimensions, use any easily accessible guidelines found online, and for a wrap with sleeves, make the length 2 – 2.5 times the length suggested for the size you wish to fit.
Crochet: Vest
This pattern is self-sizing, based on measurements of garments that now fit the wearer or of the wearer himself. The amount of yarn required will depend on the size of the intended wearer, but the amount given is an estimate based on a medium-sized man’s garment.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This pattern is self-sized, based on the size the creator wishes to execute. For that reason, the amount of yarn used will vary greatly. Gauge is immaterial for this pattern, and only entered as a filler.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
Knitting is a mystery to me. Someone recently explained the brioche effect in knitting to me, and if I understood correctly, this technique that I recalled from a pattern I downloaded long ago approximates the effect.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This shawl uses an entrelac technique. It could be worked in rows of varying colors, two colors alternating, or even in a well planned squence of many different color squares. It would also work with all one color, because the entrelac texture is really interesting.
Crochet: Cardigan
This sweater is best sized by measuring a sweater that fits correctly, or by measuring the wearer. It uses two colors of worsted weight yarn, although it would also work with one color you really like.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This pattern is based on a square spiral granny square blanket I first learned from a tutorial by Krysta of the Secret Yarnery. Watching that tutorial, even though it is on a square blanket, might be useful: youtube.com/watch?v=3W6EX-gQXcM&t=985s
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This lacy wrap works with any DK or lighter weight yarn in a self-striping, variegated, solid, or even sparkle color way. The sizing can be adjusted by varying the number of stitches in the foundation row and/or the number of rows. Test sample used less than one cake of Lion Brand Mandala.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This wrap is designed with a 6-weight super-bulky yarn, but could easily be adapted to lighter weight yarns, with adjustments to hook size and stitch/row counts. A hook larger than recommended for the chosen yarn is recommended in order to maximize the draping effect of the garment.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This wrap uses the sieve stitch, which is easily learned. The pattern was designed using Lion Brand Summer Nights double-stranded, but any 2- or 3- weight yarn would work just as well. A solid color or variegated yarn would work very well. It has not been tested with self-striping yarns.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This shawl is based on my popular Alicia shawl. It can be adjusted to any size, and could potentially use any yarn. Use a hook slightly larger than that recommended for the yarn to achieve a nice drape. It was created using a self-striping yarn, but a solid or a variegated would also work. Gauge and yardage estimates are somewhat useless, but I...
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This can be a large rectangular shawl/wrap, or a scarf. Sizing can be altered by altering the number of SC in the foundation row and the number of rows. Using the numbers below and a 5.5 mm (I) hook, this shawl was approximately 86 inches (218 cm) long and 22 inches (53 cm) wide.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This is a rectangle adaptation of the Lacy C2C Triangle Shawl. It can easily be adapted to create pieces of different sizes, such as scarves or blankets.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This lacy shawl works with any self-striping of ombre DK yarn, although solid and variegated yarns can work just as well. It could be created using a different yarn weight, but I would not recommend using a yarn heavier than worsted. Be sure to adjust hook size for different yarn weights. Hook should be at least 1 mm larger than what is usually...
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This easy wrap can easily be adjusted for size by varying the length of the foundation row or the number of rows. The result was glorious using Ice Brand Picasso yarn with the design sample, but any variegated, self-striping, or sold color yarn would also work.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This triangle shawl uses the stitch sequence in the popular Alicia shawl. Size can easily be changed by varying the number of stitches in the foundation row. Gauge is not of real importance. Depending on your stitch and your hook, you could have two shorts sides of the triangle of nearly equal length, but that is not essential.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This easy shawl uses the moss stitch and works up easily. A self-striping Aran/worsted or heavier yarn is recommended, with a hook at least one size larger than recommended on the yarn label. The samples in the photos were developed using a 9 mm hook.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This is an easy shawl that can be sized for the wearer. It can be used as a shawl or a scarf. Choice of yarn is flexible, although variegated and self-striping yarns work very well. It is a variation of the classic boomerang shawl, with filet work on some rows.
Crochet: Poncho
This poncho consists of two rectangles that measure approximately 21 in/53 cm x 42 in/106 cm. Sizing can be adjusted by altering the number of rows or the number of stitches per row. You can also choose a different hook size. Neck size can be adjusted by adding rows of edging at the neck, as indicated in the pattern.
Crochet: Pullover
This is based on the wonky granny square variation used in the Wonky Square Afghan. There are numerous opportunities for variations, such using a bulky cotton yarn and a larger hook for a summer top top that goes overs a tank or a tee.

Crochet: Scarf
Originally conceived as a clergy stole, this could easily be reconfigured into a scarf by assembling three columns instead of one. One could easily control the length of the scarf by controlling the number of squares.
Crochet: Neck / Torso - Other
This clergy stole is made in two pieces, with an option inset for the neck opening and an optional point where the pieces are joined. These photos show a sample made with a pink & white variegated baby yarn, DK weight. A lighter worsted would also work. It can be made in liturgical colors or fanciful colors or anything the wearer desires. A...

Crochet: Scarf
This pattern uses a combination of puff stitches and crossed DC stitches to create a unique texture and a diagonal lattice effect. Although a worsted weight yarn is named, any yarn could be used with the appropriate hook for the yarn. It has only been tested with solids, but it would work well with self-striping yarn, as well as with manual col...
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This is a kimono-shaped shawl using lattice/filet style alternating double crochet and chain spaces. It can be tied together in the front and sides with the optional I-cords in the pattern, or the two front panels themselves can be tied together. Alternately the front and sides can be sewn together to make a long vest.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
An easy shawl using cluster V stitches. Easy to adjust for different sizes, yarns, or hook sizes without detrimental effect to final garment.
