The Maine Farm Yarns Sampler Hat is sized for an adult medium in either dk or worsted weight yarn. It is a deceptively simple way to explore different sheep breed yarns, colors, or dive into your scrap yarn stash. As written, the pattern uses 30 yards of four colors, plus 10 additional yards of the color used in the brim.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Since most knitters seem to prefer to knit than purl, we designed an owl hat that is knit in circular from the inside out!
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This is a fun and versatile pattern, with an interesting and easy contrast between vertical lace and two-color horizontal garter rows. You can play with colors, try different fibers and yarn weights depending on the season.

Maine is known as the Pine Tree State, so we created the Pine Tree State Hat for you and we hope you will enjoy knitting it. If you want a forest rather than a single stately pine, the experienced knitter might add three additional trees to spread them all the way around. Top it with a fluffy pompom for a festive touch!
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
An easy and quick knit - great for beginners! The larger yardage requirement is to make sure there is enough yarn for a pompom, if desired.
Knitting: Cowl
Karen Grover of Seven Sisters dyed the beautiful Pink Granite colorway of her luxurious Apex yarn, which became the inspiration for this cowl. The pattern is just repeated throughout… the result is elegant and the yarn so scrumptious!
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Alpaca fiber is known for its amazing softness. Knitting or crocheting with alpaca is a pleasure, and it is perfect for the TLC required by babies. Alpaca is NOT machine-washable and so we designed a hat which is easy to handwash and will likely not be in need of washing often.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
We designed our Thornton Road Mitts using an easy slip stitch pattern. Using slipped stitches with a hand-dyed yarn can often produce beautiful results. Some hand-dyed yarns will “pool” colors depending on the dyeing technique and the stitch count. We don’t think you will find pooling with this yarn, but a slip stitch pattern is one to keep in ...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This pattern is perfect for anyone, including a new knitter! The incredibly soft organic wool yarn from JaggerSpun is a delight to knit with. Arrange four shades in a gradient, or combine colors for a fun effect. Available as a kit on Fiber of Maine.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
Maine’s seasonal shifts can keep one guessing when it’s time to head out.
Knitting: Cowl
Using two harmonious colors of a lustrous yarn like String Theory’s Opulence DK gives this deceptively simple cowl depth. Or choose higher contrast colors for more dramatic effect.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
These mitts are perfect for weather that is not too cold, or indoors. You can also use them to layer over gloves during colder temperatures.
Knitting: Hats - Other
A knitted cotton band lines the hat around the forehead, ears, and neck for total comfort regardless of the fiber content of the yarn or weather! You will need approx. 80 yards of sport or dk cotton for the lining.
Knitting: Vest
This vest is simple and fast, designed with the advanced beginner in mind. There is no finishing work; the button, armhole and neck bands are knit along with the body, and the shoulders are joined with a three-needle bind-off.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
The Sumner Shawlette is named for Sumner, a town in western Maine that is home to A Wrinkle in Thyme Farm.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Knit a classic Sea Captain’s Hat for anyone! A contrasting stripe at the brim is a jaunty touch.
Knitting: Cowl, Scarf
This is an easy lace project – just a two row repeat. The cowl and scarf are actually reversible as both sides are attractive.
Knitting: Mittens
These mittens were designed using Bartlettyarns’ 2-ply worsted. Bartlettyarns of Harmony, Maine, is a company that has been producing yarn since 1821.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
The natural colors of Mulberry Marsh handspun yarn provided the inspiration for a simple pair of fingerless mittens. You can find this yarn on the Fiber of Maine website.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
All of our designs are named after Maine lakes or regions. Lake Saint George is a pristine body of water in Liberty, Maine, and is the inspiration for our August subscription offering.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
These mitts are a great way to highlight a precious skein or two of handspun yarn. This was Fiber of Maine’s featured pattern for our Maine yarn subscription in June 2016.

Crochet: Beanie, Toque
This is the first crochet pattern for Fiber of Maine’s monthly yarn subscription, released to our subscription holders in February 2016. The pattern uses three mini-skeins of Good Karma’s sportweight Color Blurz yarn, a gradient kit, or you could use 65 yards each of any sportweight yarn.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque, Booties
We created a baby bootie and cap pattern for B bar C Farm’s angora yarn because if you haven’t seen a baby wearing an angora hat, you are missing out on seeing something amazingly beautiful. Newborn babies are pretty special by themselves, but put an angora hat on them and they truly look like angels because the angora creates a halo-like appea...
