This is a collection of patterns using stitches/techniques not commonly found in afghan blocks worked in the round.

My husband noticed that when I’m making blocks I measure, a lot. He asked if it wouldn’t be easier to start from the outside and work in, then you’d always know it was going to be exactly 12in.

A Ravelry user posted a pattern request for an afghan block she’d made over 15 years before. After searching high and low I was unable to find the original and so wrote up this version based upon photos. If you recognize the pattern, please tell me. I’ll take this one down and link back to the original.

Follow gauge, or use preferred hook size.

If you weave your ends in carefully this pattern is reversible. Use whatever sized hook is needed to match gauge.

This pattern is inspired by a photo request posted online. The poster wanted to recreate an afghan made by her late grandmother-in-law Lenore. No one was able to help find the original pattern used, so this is my interpretation of the close-up photo posted. If you recognize the pattern, please let me know so I can give proper credit.

Just as streams join to form a mighty river so too does the influence of family and friends shape and form a person. The textured design of this pattern is reminiscent of both family tree diagrams branching outwards, and of streams converging into the center.

Note: Pattern has been revised, the round-by-round photos won’t match exactly, but should still be helpful.

This is a sampler piece created to practice several (new to me) techniques.

I came up with this pattern as a quick backing for hotpads. I didn’t see anything like this already on Ravelry and so made it up this afternoon.
