This pattern reminds me of the falling maple and oak leaves in North America, and how it is time to layer on the clothes. But in the autumn where I live, it warms up a bit in the afternoon, so I like to wear fingerless mitts when I drive or walk in the morning. They are small enough to fit in my bag when the day warms.

This cowl is reversible, but in an ordinary sense. One side looks stockinette with subtle furrows that are accented with the pop of bobbles when you turn the top down. This cowl measures about 22 inches in the round unstretched. You can make it as long as you want, remembering to add more yarn to the yardage requirement.
