Knitting: Containers
The straps are double-knit tubes through which you thread a strip of denim, leather, or other non-stretch fabric. I strongly recommend using at least two colors, or the double-knitting can get very tricky. You can make at least two from two skeins, three if you switch the main color and contrasting color.
Knitting: Beret, Tam
1 skein Lujoso (or 160 yards of soft & bulky alpaca/silk/merino blend)
Knitting: Hats - Other
This looks complicated, but follow the steps line by line and you’ll make it up just right! I wrote the pattern for first-time entrelac-ers.
Knitting: Cup / Mug
I ride a bike to get around, and I needs me coffee. I have a bike basket, but the coffee sloshes around in the cup whenever I hit a bump. I’m taking advantage of centrifugal force by having the cup holder free swing on the handlebars. Even on the beat-up roads of New Orleans, I can now get my coffee to work without spilling a drop!
Knitting: Hats - Other
This is made to fit a child, so the chin strap is made to pop open on pressure just to keep things safe.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
I took my favorite things about all the candle lights/flames designs out there and made up a fun rosette bind-off, because the tops of so many shawls are so…zzzzzzzzzzz.
Knitting: Tote
I love cables, but on a sweater they can make me look a little heavy.
Knitting: Scarf
This pattern takes a twist on the traditional fern lace pattern, works out a beginning and end to prevent half-ferns, and surrounds it with a broken garter border. It works well in solid and variegated colors, and it’s a great pattern to develop “lace discipline” because mistakes show up quickly and clearly.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This starts with a figure eight cast on (instructions with pictures provided) and then gets knit down from the top. So easy and fun and quick! And it’s the perfect hat for men and women. One skein!
Knitting: Booties
The secret is that the booties are so easy to knit! You work them up flat, sew a couple of seams, and there you go! Just change yarn weight and needle size to make adult/child/baby booties.
