I started this project during the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. In less than 2 hours, I had completed everything but the crocheted tie. I had never crocheted before and had to go on line to figure out how to do a chain stitch. This was really fun.

This pattern has directions for the flags of the 12 countries that had the highest medal scores at the 2006 Winter Olympics.
