Knitting: Mittens
Cozy up, my lovely knitters, because a new Cozy cuppa pattern is here! This time we are knitting up a cozy cup of cocoa decorated with evergreen trees and topped with a sprig of holly. The palms of this beautiful design is a gingham plaid, and the thumb features a tall pine tree. These are knit with dk/worsted weight yarn, so they are EXTRA warm!

Instructions are included within the pattern for both the fingerless and the full versions of these mittens. There are also charts available for 2 color and 3 color versions of this pattern. There are so many variations you could do with the colorwork for these--feel free to experiment!

The Polyphemus Moth (or Antheraea Polyphemus) is a giant silk moth found statewide in Illinois. It has two eyespots on its wings to ward off predators. It has feathery antennae, which are larger in males than females. It lives in both urban and forest areas. Adult Polyphemus moths do not feed, and only two generations per year are produced.

Knitting: Mittens
A beautiful vintage pair of mittens to wear all winter long. These mittens feature beautiful roses framed in vines, a lovely chevron lace cuff, and an afterthought thumb for uninterrupted color work. Since they are knit in worsted weight yarn, they work up very quickly. Perfect for a last minute gift!
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
This pattern was inspired by the mittens and gloves I knit while living on Lincoln Avenue the second year my husband and I were married. These socks feature lots of simple texture and 2 mock cables on the other edges of the foot.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
The Chestnut Street socks are inspired by my husband and my first year of marriage, and the first apartment we shared together (yes, on Chestnut Street!). This pattern uses one strand of sock yarn and 1 strand of lace mohair, held double, for a squishy halo of warmth.

With their lace cuff and 2 plaid patterns, these mittens bear both beauty and brute—just like a lumberjill (which is a real profession, if you’re interested in doing some Wikipedia searching). Sometimes you just need more plaid in your wardrobe, and these are the perfect addition.
