This pattern is a bulky-weight version of my Basic Beginner’s Hat pattern used for my knitting classes. The benefit of this version is that it works up much more quickly, making it easier to complete in less time than the worsted-weight version.

Named after the beautiful Gila National Forest, this hat pattern uses a folded brim and bamboo stitch, creating a substantial but slightly open fabric that is quick, easy, and fun to knit. The finished circumference is roughly 26 inches with good negative ease that makes it comfortable for many different sizes of heads.
