I was trying out a new way (to me) to purl, so decided to practice it by knitting up a project. This pattern is the result - a stretch of 5 stitches of purl between simple medallions. The medallions, though, have an interesting decrease between the openwork yarnovers, which add a bit of texture.

This is a simple cable-and-bobble hat, named in part after one of my favorite designers who does beautiful work in cables, and after the tool, the lucet, which is shaped like the cable, and is used to make cord.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Toe up socks in a simple lace pattern which is easily memorized makes knitting these socks interesting, but not tiresome. Long strands of colored stripes let the lace stand out without getting lost in too many colors.

Knitting: Beanie, Toque
I decided the other day to try out a Sanquhar pattern, but had no desire to make socks or gloves. A hat was the perfect venue. Altogether, this pattern was very easy to memorize and the entire hat took about 5 hours. The Cascade 220 pure wool yarn has a lovely hand to it, and the warm cream and charcoal created a hat which was a very pleasant s...
