Knitting: Cowl
Due to accessibility issues which Ravelry is uninterested in addressing, I would prefer you purchase this pattern from either my LoveCrafts store or my Etsy store where it is being sold for 5.00$. Send me a message via email or Ravelry mail and I can add your pattern to your Ravelry database after purchasing off-site.

The Lokken Cowl is the big sister of the Lokken Kerchief. It features the same blocks and stripes motif, and utilizes very similar construction methods. Like the small shawl version, you won’t need to call upon any colorwork techniques for your cowl as all of the patterning is created through alternating your working yarn. You’ll never be worki...

I went through a phase in high school, and my thanks to Robert Osborn for fueling it, where I watched all of Hitchcock’s films. Imagine my shock when the weird romance novel I’d been instructed to buy for my ninth grade English class showed up on the tv schedule with Hitchcock’s name attached. I’d assumed Rebecca was a smarmy romance from it’s ...

I do not consider myself a particularly vocal person when it comes to politics but the nomination of Kavanaugh, in light of the allegations against him, and his conduct on the stand, has truly gotten to me. I grew up in the D.C. metro area and attended a private school in Bethesda. Kavanaugh’s travesty of justice hits very close to home for me ...

Atlantica is a narrow triangular shawl comprised of stockinette stitch and garter stitch stripes of increasing width. It is a wonderful first shawl for someone who is learning increases and decreases, or a great low stress project for someone who has mastered them. Atlantica can be knit with a single colorway of yarn or with two, using one for ...

Whip Float is a long, looped cowl inspired by soft serve ice cream. On my last vacation I discovered the joy that is soft serve floating in juice. I’m not a soda drinker so I’ve never been very interested in floats before, but I like juice, and I was thirsty, so I tried one. One quickly turned into eight over the course of a week. It was a whol...

Twyla is the pattern your unloved single skeins have been looking for. Maybe your lonely skein was an impulse buy, an unexpected color combination that called to you, a swap gift, a colorway with an appropriate fandom name, something you intended to use for crazy socks before you swore off sock knitting, or a braid of fiber that spun up just li...

Rikaart Shawl is a multi-directional garter stitch shawl. Many of the construction elements are similar to those used in the original Rikaart Cowl pattern.

MDL is a striped, garter stitch shawl worked in three colors: Medium, Dark, and Light. While it does require picking up stitches, MDL does not require short rows, intarsia, or grafting. A coloring page is included with the pattern.

Lux, Latin for light, is the sister pattern of the triangular Phos shawl. Both were designed for Gwen Erin Natural Fibers, and feature handspun yarn together with commercial yarn. The distinctive color patterns in each shawl are achieved through slipped stitch colorwork. Lux was originally designed to explore negative space using color and text...

Duplicity is a garter stitch shawl knit from a single skein of gradient yarn or a mini skein set. Instead of working from one end of the color progression to the other, Duplicity moves from both ends of the color progression toward the middle, melding colors together.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
I initially took up spinning because I wanted to create my own handspun yarn, to my exact specifications. Oh my naivety! Two and a half years later, I can now confidently spin fiber into a specific weight of yarn but spinning a yarn to precisely match the gauge of another skein of yarn is beyond my abilities.

Zombie Love is a worsted weight shawl designed for that special someone…who may be falling apart a tiny bit. The body of the shawl is knit in stockinette stitch and broken rib stitch with lines of dropped stitches that are “unzipped” at the end. The loop on the bind off edge allows you to secure and wrap your shawl in a variety of ways without ...

I am a process knitter. The first time I went to River Colors Studio, many, many years ago, I walked out with size 11 straight needles and two skeins of bulky, hand dyed yarn. I was so excited to have a local yarn store again I was anxious with delight! I knit that yarn up 5 times, until I felt I had the perfect, squishy scarf. But, if I’m bein...

Knitting: Cowl
The day is approaching when I look into my closet and announce to the world, or my pets, “I have too many garter stitch shawls!” I’m not there yet but the time has come to knit proactively. Rikaart transforms everything I love about garter stitch shawls into a light, versatile cowl through the magic of multidirectional knitting.

I am not much of a lace knitter. I appreciate the intricacy and beauty of it but lace rarely seems to mesh well with my wardrobe or personal style. Halle was designed with just the right amount of elegance to satisfy the desire to make exquisite, delicate shawls, but is tempered to coordinate with less formal attire.

Gold Rush is a single skein shawl designed specifically for Fresh From the Cauldron’s Gold Rush yarn colorway. Working with the yarn wound as a center pull cake, the even numbered, vertical sections yeild stripes of increasing width while the odd numbered sections, worked from the center out, fade from dark to light.

Tritone is a slouchy hat designed to highlight self-striping yarns. It is knit in two directions and features a twist on normal crown shaping. It is a simple pattern that lets your fancy yarn do all the talking. Samples were knit in dk-Aran weight yarns. I didn’t need to adjust my needle size but, as always, check your gauge.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
The nature of self striping yarn makes it a challenging choice for shawl knitting because the yarn’s stripes will always cover the same number of stitches. This results in large color blocks when worked over only a few stitches, and increasingly narrow, obscured stripes as your stitch count rises. The construction of St. Clair was conceived to ...

This hat was originally a bonus pattern to go along with my Aureolin scarf in the Fresh from the Cauldron Rainbow Barf Club.
Knitting: Scarf
Aureolin is a broken rib and windowpane lace, checkerboard scarf in my own original stitch pattern. The original scarf was technically worked in a lace weight yarn, but that particular yarn base is really more of a light fingering. Either will work very nicely for a flowing scarf.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
The broken rib stitch is my favorite basic stitch pattern. It has lovely purl lines and garter bumps as well as a finished fabric with lots of drape and texture, perfect for yarns with lots of shine. I knit both of the prototypes with beautiful, shiny yarns that didn’t need a complex pattern getting in their way. The edging is a riff on good ol...

Knitting: Scarf, Shawl / Wrap
Simple, eye catching, and fun to knit color block shawl. This is the easiest intarsia you will ever do with only 2 color changes per row. Uses less than 191yards in 3 colorways. (instructions on how to use 2-6 colors instead of 3 are also provided)

It’s been my experience that a wide, short knit seems to go quicker than a narrow, tall one. This probably has something to do with the fact that I will procrastinate doing things until ‘the end of the row’ and so with fewer chances to get another cup of tea, turn up the stereo, check twitter (megitwat btw) let the dogs out, get the mail, find ...
Knitting: Beret, Tam
This is just about the easiest beret, tam, slouchy hat I have ever knit. It knits up very fast, not 45 minutes fast, but you can definitely whip it out in a day and without heavy concentration. Yet, at the same time it has a lot more character than a plain ole stockinette hat The stitch pattern gives you a pleated effect and breaks up pooling a...

Error: in the pattern the written explanation for a centered double decrease is incorrect. Two stitches should be slipped onto the right needle from the left, the next stitch knit onto the right needle, and then the two slipped stitches passed over it. After a year of publication on ravelry this was just now pointed out to me! My appologies! I ...
Knitting: Scarf
I started knitting this while watching “Oliver Twist” on Masterpiece Theater….and named it after my favorite character in the novel-movie Bill Sykes. (played in this version by the impeccable Tom Hardy) Sykes is a dark, seedy fellow but not without his moments. He’s very much a product of his circumstances. He is also very charismatic and not w...
Knitting: Towel
this is a super easy little hanging dishcloth which requires no buttons or velcro. all you need to know how to do is knit, purl, decrease and do i-cord. i reccomend wooden or casein needles for working with cotton yarn.
