I love how the whirl worked within this pattern. The colour changes enhance the pattern. During testing, one tester has tried using a whirl for the dc and sc rows and a whirlette for the bead stitch rows which is working up wonderfully. I have also had testers work the piece in a different brand of yarn with different colours changes the effect...

Stormy Clouds is worked with a 4ply yarn which produces a light weight blanket. There is no reason why alternate yarns in different weights couldn’t be used to make a heavier blanket. Hook size and amount of yarn used would need consideration.
