i found the stitch pattern for the steel pansies scarf and tam in a japanese stitch dictionary that my jet-setting husband brought back from one of his jaunts to japan. i loved the pattern because it is sort of feather and fan but with a stronger vertical line.

pattern was designed to be knit on two circular needles. references to needle one are referring to the needle containing instep stitches. likewise, references to needle two are indicating the needle holding the sole stitches. however, if you prefer the magic loop method or dpns, the pattern is easily adjusted.

this is a fun and easy scarf pattern that reminds me of summer roses. it is completely reversible, and the light and airy openwork makes it great for breezy spring days or knit it a little longer and wear it doubled in the winter. nice for that special single skein in your stash and a perfect first lace project.
