Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Our Honey From the Hive kits have been so popular, people have requested another shawl in the same vein. This four-color sport weight shawl celebrates our favorite pollinators and the fruit they gift us with. For this pattern, I’ve improved the look of the two-color honeycomb and added an apple motif that looks terrific and is fun to execute. R...

This pattern works up much faster if you can purl backwards (left to right) as is sometimes done with entrelac. You can see it in the videos linked below.

Each hat uses less than half a skein of the main color, a bit of gold, and a bit of black. Buy all four colors and you’ll have enough for an away team of six!
Knitting: Scarf
Use two contrasting colors (two 100g skeins of fingering should do) to double knit this scarf that doubles as a playble dungeon!
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
The Local Hero Shawl to make and give comfort while giving support in community! Gauge is not important, and you end the project when you run out of yarn, so the size will vary. Use a second skein and continue the pattern out if you want a larger shawl.
Knitting: Scarf
The Local Hero Scarf to wear with pride! Keep it scrunchy for a bulkier look and feel, or block it out flat for an extra-long scarf.
Knitting: Cowl
The Local Hero Cowl warms up the wearer when they are out in community building connections. To wrap around and around and around to keep you warm, or let it all hang out to make a fashion statement!
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Gauge is not important. One skein of Marina or 2 skeins of sock yarn (100g each).

The Brahmaputra is a braided river that carries the snowmelt of the Himalayas to the Ganges River. It flows through Assam, an eastern state of India. Its constantly crossing channels and silt-bar islands inspired this shawl design.

lizabeth and I took our honeymoon on the west coast of Ireland. One of my favorite places there was the Aran Islands. We spent two nights on Inis Mhor, the big island, a latticework of stone walls and green
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
I love vertical stripes. They’re so slimming (and I have a fat head). But knitting is not really built for vertical stripes. Horizontal stripes are easy, but vertical stripes generally require sideways construction (hard to shape a hat with) or stranded knitting (heavy, double thickness). But if the stripes are slipped every other row, the stra...

I figured out an “easy” trick for knitting different patterns front and back. If you design the pattern so that every second row (the “back” row) is exactly the same as the row before it, you never have to keep track of the purls. You always purl with the color that presents itself! I’m going to have a lot of fun with this trick!
