Crochet: Throw

The Karoo scarf/wrap is designed for a workshop at the Karoo Winter Wool Festival (2024) in South Africa. The workshop was presented by myself, Annamarie Esterhuizen.

I combined filet crochet with traditional crochet for the baby blanket. The border is traditional crochet.
Crochet: Tablecloth
The crochet technique is Mosaic Overlay crochet and I used the NO loose ends technique where you begin and end the work without any yarn cutting. I do explain the technique in the pattern.
Crochet: Afghan block
The Tenuto motifs are different in the centre with the same border of 4 rounds with the same stitch count. It can all easily be used in a blanket or you can use the motifs you like most.

Crochet: Afghan block
The Graff Diamond is Mosaic Overlay and can be used to make a throw or table runner or even a beautiful bed runner.
Knitting: Throw
The Cadre throw is a combination of knitting and crochet. The pattern consists out of blocks. The center piece is knitted with a crochet border around it. Surface crochet is also done on each block. The blocks are simple but looks elegant.

The Dinosaur Kitties throw is designed using the Tapestry Mosaic Overlay crochet technique. I used MoYa Shimmer (blend 50% cotton/50% bamboo) with a 3.5mm crochet hook.

The Retro Flower Table Runner reminds me of the Retro colors and therefore I decided on the name for it. The table runner consists out of 14 octagon motifs with a beautiful lacy border. The motifs are joined with a zigzag join method. You can use your own join method.

The Harlequin Blanket motif is designed to use it from a 40cm x 40cm scatter cushion to a blanket of the size you want to make it. I used the beautiful MoYa Shimmer yarn and 3.5mm hook.

The HARMONY is designed in the shape of a hexagon. It has a centre piece consisting out of small hexagons. Thereafter it is worked in the round. I rounded it off with tassels. The HARMONY can be used as a throw or as a tablecloth.

The AFRICAN MOSAIC throw was inspired by the South African artist, the Ndebele dr. Esther Mahlangu. She is a world-known artist and to be more specific for the art she did on a BMW. I added photos.

I designed the Peacock throw keeping in mind that sometimes we just want to crochet without thinking. I used the very excited MoYa Celebration yarns which are available with different weights of yarn in one 50g ball! How exciting is that? You also do not change colours. A dream yarn to work with.

What more can I say than the name of the throw? During the COVID-19 lock down period in South Africa, I designed the Extended Lock down Throw using available stash. I mostly used Eco-Fusion and Shimmer that is a 4-ply yarn (125mtrs/50g).

The HALIME Throw is designed with the Mosaic crochet technique with clear instructions. I used shades of blue combined with the colours taupe and stone. The throw begins with a centre square, then rounds of: border, 20 small Mosaic crochet motifs, wide border, 24 large Mosaic crochet motifs ending with a border again.

The Celebrations Overlay top usess the MoYa Celebrations yarn which is a blend of 8 different weights of yarns. You will need 4 x 100g skeins of the Celebrations yarn. The design also needs the skills of freeform crochet and garter stitch knitting.

I fell in love with the MoYa Opal blend of Merino wool and 100% cotton. It is super soft and the ideal yarn for a baby shawl. I designed the shawl specifically for a newborn baby and/or christening ceremony. The size of the shawl is 90cm x 90cm and is worked in 3 different stitch patterns with a border.
Crochet: Rug
I designed the rug for you to enjoy. Challenging stitches and crochet techniques were used and I was inspired by other rugs where these techniques were used. I enjoyed it and I hope you will too.

The Market day poncho is designed for the in between days. It uses 5 x different colours and needs approx. 1875mtrs of double knit yarn. It fits all adult sizes.

The throw is designed by Annamarie Esterhuizen. It is worked in the round with squares worked into the design. It has colourwork and a lot of texturized work such as Front post and Back post stitches. The size of the finished throw is 110cm x 110cm. It is finished off with tassels with beads.

The Diamond throw is designed with small granny squares to give the illusion of quilt work. The granny squares have only 3 rounds. I used a different way to join the corners with each round. Clear photos are part of the pattern and also a layout diagram.
