Knitting: Coffee / Tea Pot
This is a great quick gift for anyone with Scots connections. It’s a fairly straightforward design with a bit of extra embellishment in the form of beads and some tartan ribbon. I used DK and it could be worked in heavier yarns though this would affect the size.
Knitting: Cardigan
This is an excellent way to use all those gorgeous cake yarns and super easy to work with just a little bit of folding to give an interesting design.
Knitting: Cardigan
This is an easy and quick knit that, due to the long colour runs, gives a really attractive result. The cardigan has been designed to use most of one 200g ball. The body is knit all in one to the armhole and then the sleeves are knit separately and added to complete the yoke all in one. The only seam is in the sleeve and there is no picking up ...
Knitting: Blanket - Other
A delightfully soft and cosy baby bag, ideal for layering. This is worked in a chenille yarn which gives bulk without weight and is easy to launder. I chose this seasons colour for babies, a silver grey, which works well for a boy or girl.
Knitting: Coat / Jacket, Cardigan
A great summer staple this is super easy to work with just a little bit of folding to give an interesting design. The back and fronts are worked in one piece and the sleeves are picked up and worked down (either flat or in the round). The only seam is the side and sleeve and there are no borders to pick up. The entire garment is worked in seed ...
Knitting: Baby Blanket
Designed to use one colour cake. The instructions will give the size stated but most knitters should be able to add one pattern repeat if they want a wider blanket. I had yarn left and added a simple crochet edge.
Knitting: Baby Blanket
This is a simple blanket in a double knit yarn. I have altered the pattern slightly so that all the patterning is done on one row; giving the relaxation of a straight knit row every other row.
Knitting: Cardigan
An easy to layer lightweight cardigan; ideal for Spring,Summer and Autumn. It is shown as an edge to edge with full length sleeves but could easily be adapted to include one or more buttons and instructions are given for a three quarter length sleeve. It would also look good as a shorter, more boxy, cardi.
Knitting: Pullover
This is a chunky sweater to keep you cosy in winter. There is interesting texture on the ribs and collar. The cable section appears on both the back and front; it is straightforward and would be suitable for someone with little experience of cabling.
Knitting: Pullover
A delightful design for a boy or girl. A simple overall design with a roll edges and raglan sleeves for ease of fit. The intasaria star is a little challenge but could be left out. The stripes on the sleeves are only two rows each so the yarn can be carried instead of having lots of ends to sew in.The lettering can be worked in duplicate stitch...
Knitting: Scarf
This is a great Summer accessory to dress up a simple Tee or for those slightly cooler days. There is a simple 4 row lace pattern to give added interest to the knitting.
Knitting: Sleeveless Top
This is an ideal summer top, based on one that I bought and wore endlessly last year. It can be worn on its own or as a layer on slightly cooler days. It is a modern boxy shape and the fit is very loose. In the picture I am wearing the small which comes out at 46in giving me 10in of negative ease.
Knitting: Doll
This Scottish doll has a simple shape but some interesting pattern details. Slip stitches provide the ‘tartan’ effect and it would be easy to customise the colourway. There is an Aran sweater with basic cabling on the body and sleeves. The red bobble hat is a nod to the late great Tom Weir; his statue in Balmaha is seldom seen without one.
Knitting: Baby Blanket
A self striping yarn and an interesting texture makes this a gorgeous squishy blanket.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap, Scarf
This is a lovely light and decorative wrap suitable for everyday and elegant enough for evening. The high loft of the mohair makes it very warm for its weight and the length gives the option of wearing it in several different ways.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
The double brim in the heavier yarn and the textured sides make this really cosy. The top as worked has a slightly ‘pie crust’ effest; if you prefer it flat simply block with a disc of the appropriate sizeThe gauge on the brim is approx 19st to 4 inches over garter st, due to the nature of the yarn there is quite a lot of stretch in this. The Op...
Knitting: Cardigan
The longer length of this charming cardigan makes it a really cosy option. The full Moss (Seed) stitch hem is really flattering, though rather hungry on yarn. If you wanted to stash bust and were worried about quantity this would be the place to cut down length.
Knitting: Cardigan
This is a very simple baby pattern based on a traditional design but updated to DK.It is very attractive in any yarn but really lends itself to a print with a reasonable run.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
A simple and cute hat suitable for a novice knitter. Designed to match and use up left over yarn from the Bunny in a Basket blanket.
Knitting: Baby Blanket
A really cute and fun baby blanket. Easy to personalize for a boy or girl or can be kept neutral with a brown grey or lemon bunny.
Knitting: Cowl
This cowl is light as air yet surprisingly warm as well as being a really attractive accessory.
Knitting: Pillow / Cushion
This famous emblem is knit as four panels and then joined to form the front of the cushion. The design is fairly complex with every row patterned, but it is only an 8inch square at a time.
Knitting: Pullover
This pattern is a really flattering design that can look quite ‘dressy’ depending on the yarn used.
