I recommend using a worsted weight or sport weight yarn, wool or cotton (or any blockable fiber, but something that will show off the lace details), and the color of your choice! As written the pattern uses about 320 yds of worsted weight, but you can make the length according to your taste....

This pattern is written for bulky yarn, but you can substitute any yarn of your choice (just use a hook to produce a semi-tight stitch). This works up quickly for experienced crocheters, but is not too difficult for beginners.
