Knitting: Hanging Ornament
This is a quick ornament in the traditional Vermont “Moriarty Hat” style that you can make with scrap yarn. The pompom is optional, but it does make the ornament look more like a hat. I usually use a bright main color, with white stripes and a white pompom.
Knitting: Scarf

Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This type of ski hat was ubiquitous in Vermont in the 1970s. The double layer around the bottom really keeps your ears warm! This pattern is adapted from verbal instructions from a knitter I chatted with in a Richmond, Vermont laundromat in 1976. I have been knitting this hat ever since.
