This design was inspired by the Eisenhorn trilogy by Dan Abnett, in which a beautiful young woman at a certain point wears a ‘cream-lace shawl’. That, of course, had me wondering - and this is what I came up with.

Triangle shape: cast on for both legs of triangle and decrease. No casting off.

Simple tee, worked in the round up to the armholes, then flat. The waist shaping is a result of changing the ribbing rather than decreasing & increasing the number of stitches.

The Hamfast Gamgee sweater is made up of 2 parts: a body in a fairly simple rib pattern, worked in the round, and a sleeve/shoulder part featuring a Viking (or Celtic) cable pattern, worked flat.
