This flag is a slightly different (smaller and 13 star) version of my original free flag pattern, Lee Johnson’s Wavy American Flag (available on Ravelry and Craftsy), that I made for my now 94 year old Dad who is a WWII Veteran. This is an easy pattern to complete, and I hope that many veterans are being gifted with an afghan flag of their own....

Ever hear of a weighted blanket to cure insomnia!!?? I made one for my husband out of Bernat Mega Bulky and it really worked! This yarn is heavy and thick, yet super soft, and worked perfectly! It put him to sleep and may even reduce his restless leg syndrome! No need to add anything else to the weight from my experience.

I made this as a tribute for my Dad--a WWII Coast Guard Veteran still kicking at 93! I hope others will make this flag for the special veteran in their life or for veterans that have no one to make one for them!
