Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
“Khamusak Lup” are the words for “bead” and “rope” in Chinook Jargon (aka Chinuk Wawa), the trade language that was used by fur traders and Native Americans in the Pacific Northwest during the 1800s. It is an interesting combination of words primarily derived from the local Native American languages, English, and French.

This is a quick, easy pattern with a little bit of stranded colorwork to keep things interesting. It includes a lift stitch technique to eliminate the dreaded “color jog,” and a mini-gusset above the thumb to help reduce pulling and holes along the thumb join.

I love my “Harmonia’s Rings” cowl (design by Sivia Harding), but sometimes it’s a little bigger than I want to wear. So I played around and came up with this design - it’s cozy, scrunchy, and small enough to tuck comfortably into a coat. It’s also nice when your house or office is a bit chilly!
