Knitting: Beanie, Toque
I was so excited to hear that Notré Dame de Paris will be reopening this year! The projected date is “December” and I will actually be in Paris in December - I hope I am able to visit it again!
Knitting: Scarf
Stolen Moments is a cloud like hug, in the shape of an elongated parallelogram shape. Three simple stitch patterns in the non mohair only yarn, are alternated with stripes of garter stitch of both yarns held together. The variety keeps the boredom factor down, but it’s still simple enough for social knitting!

When you need a super quick knit… for yourself or for a gift! Knit the hat tonight (first) and then the cowl tomorrow (second) using the remainder of the ball.
Knitting: Scarf
Marled (two colors held together to create a smooth transition between colors, this parallelogram scarf is a quick knit, using mini skeins or leftover bits! Chose to work within a color palette or let random bits and bobs create a scrappy masterpiece.

Hope is… a waking dream. - Aristotle
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
The word “fain” is an old word meaning “happily or gladly”. You’ll happily go out in inclement weather wearing a super cozy Fain Beanie!

Crockett Lake is a beautiful protected marshland near my home on Whidbey Island. Each year various birds migrate and either stop, or stay at Crockett Lake. The stranded color work reminds me of the flocks of birds, flying over my home, on their journeys… some to Crockett Lake, some to parts unknown to me.
Knitting: Balaclava
I’m too young for Facebook, and too old for TikTok, so find me on Instagram - Someone on the internet one day.

On a recent trip to Copenhagen, I was struck by the smooth flow of traffic in spite of so many pedestrians, bicycles, and automobiles all sharing the roads. And after a couple of days of getting our bearings and learning the rules of the road… we rented bicycles so we could really zip around the city. It works because there is a lane for everyo...

“He will hear my call a mile away. He will whistle my favorite song. He can ride a pony backwards.

The film ends without a neat conclusion, and the screen fades to white… the perception of hope. In 2021 we need all the hope, real and perceived, we can collect!
Knitting: Ankle Sock
September is Back to School for a lot of American school children.

Late May, and early June, the wild roses bloom along our roadsides and on our beaches (yes, I do live in a magical place!). The Nootka roses are heavily fragranced and I love to walk along their hedges or drive along the roads.

Each spring the Skagit Valley bursts forth in a patchwork of color - when the daffodil and tulip fields spring to life.

They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend. I’m not sure I buy fully into that sentiment… though I do think they are beautiful!

Flocks of birds, flying over the waves, crashing onto the piles of driftwood blown by the wind and collected on the shores of Whidbey Island.

Picket Fences is a quick and satisfying knit… and oh so soft and squishy when done up in my hand dyed 100% extrafine superwash Merino yarn. But any bulky yarn will do!
Knitting: Chart
I created this for a really plump 2 ply fingering weight yarn I had on hand. I used US 7 needles (which is what the emPower People pattern calls for I believe.) I’ve done no maths or gauges - simply made the chart. Please adjust as necessary (where to start the chart, where in the row to begin the text, etc.) for your yarn/needle/gauge.
Knitting: Cowl
Think of the Volute Cowl, more as a formula than a pattern. When a 2X2 rib is worked over an odd number of stitches in the round, the swirl pattern is automatically created. For a super fast project, use large needles and bulky yarn… for a totally different look, try smaller needles and a thinner yarn.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Designed to teach an intro to colorwork class, this classic beanie uses four mini skeins to create a beautiful beanie which resembles the blending of watercolors. The chart is designed to be followed, but if mistakes happen, no one will ever know. My goal is for you to create a wonderful accessory you will love to wear, but to remove some of th...
Knitting: Cowl
The Coupeville Cowl was created specifically for my knitting students who are just learning to knit - but it’s great for all levels of knitters. Using just knits and purls, one skein of yarn, and a large enough gauge that the project will be quickly finished - all lend to a satisfying end result. A new knitter with a lovely hand made item to be...
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Four colors blend together, much like watercolours used by artists. I tried watercolours once - turns out you need to be able to draw, and I cannot. But I loved the way the colours would blend, avoiding harsh lines - the same way the four colours here blend together.
