I used the 8 for the Cowl and the 6 for the Mitts.

This is a pattern for a flat bottomed grocery/market bag knit seamlessly. It has simple purled corners to help give it shape. You can vary the sizing after you have made the first (or as you go) to help it better fit your shopping needs.
