100% Domestic Merino
With a soft hand, warmth and durability, this delicate fingering weight Merino yarn holds all the virtues of its remarkable, natural resource. After the great need for wool during the 1940’s, the benefits of wool were recognized by many, including the US government. A subsidy was even offered to encourage more domestic wool production. The benefits, however, favored only a small handful of the largest ranches and fostered dependence from the smaller ones. Many of those smaller farms disappeared in the 1990’s when the subsidy was abolished. Today, not a single state agricultural department recognizes wool as a valuable commodity. Personally, I don’t think that makes it any less valuable, do you? Domestic wool is on the fringe. I vote for wool. Knit on, America.
