Made in a soft S-twist, you have a choice of either naturally coloured (1 Cardinal Virtue), 19 plant dyed (2 Fortitude to 20 Mortal Sin) or 10 low impact dyed (21 Humility to 30 Truth) Eco-Organic Cotton yarn. Low impact dyeing is done using GOTS Certified Organic dyes which contain no heavy metals.

We searched for the most environmentally sound production of organic cotton and opted to use plant dyes for the majority of our Eco-Organic Cotton colour range. The 100% certified organic and Fair Trade tanguis cotton is hand dyed using traditional methods with plants and is certified by SKAL (pending application approval for Fair Trade).

By buying Eco-Organic Cotton, you are helping to revive ancestral techniques of hand spinning and hand dyeing of the Peruvian dyers, especially of the Paracas Culture. You are also contributing to the welfare of the women (and their families) who work to bring you this yarn. The women often come from the poorest localities in Lima. They are given Fair Trade conditions and a litre of milk per day that they work. The money that they make helps their children obtain an education.
