Gradient Merino Nylon Fingering
Gecko Gradient full size cakes are dyed with shawls in mind, starting with a small stitch count which increases as you progress through the pattern. They are dyed with the intent that you would pull from the center pull string. The initial color takes up about 10% or less of the entire cake, with each increase in intensity using up a larger percentage of the cake to allow for even color distribution in your finished project. If you pull from the outside of the cake, you will end up with largely the darkest/intense color, and very little of the lighter intensities of the color. If you intend to knit in that direction (going from dark to light as your project increases in stitch count) please contact me to do a reverse dye order of a particular colorway.
If you intend to knit a rectangular shawl (no increasing stitch counts), also contact me prior to ordering to dye your yarn appropriately for your project.
Gradient socks are dyed as 2, 50g blanks in order to make a pair of socks (or mitts) that are the same. Colors are more evenly distributed over the entire blank in order to enjoy the progression of color change along an entire sock or mitt.
