Ramie is a material which will strengthen when it is wet. It has been traditionally used to create a fish net. The net is made stronger by persimmon and mud dyes.

When the net became too old for fishing, it was cut and made into a string so that it could be used as a weft for weaving. It shows how people used to treasure every bit of the material to the very end.
