Andean Mist Fingering
This special plant dyed cotton is produced in the Cooperative of Peru Naturtex, an association of small farmers and processing companies in the region Quilca, Peru.
When growing, the picking and the processing of the cotton are made without the use of chemicals. They´re also not mercerized, whereby the yarns retain their special, soft, almost silky feel.
They’re dyed with native plant parts or fruits, grown in part for a balanced mixed culture between the cotton plants, or are collected by the Indians themselves in the wild. Several plants / fruits are mostly used for one color. Some provide the color, others fix the color in the fiber.
Most of the colours are vegan, but some are dyed with a bit of carmine, which is a dye that is obtained from cochineal, a small insect. The Non-Vegan Colours are ‘Wild Watermelon’, ‘DolcePink’ and ‘Mood Indigo’.
This yarn is plied Nm10/2/4
