Undyed Baby Lace
Baby Lace has a 2/16nm construction giving a generous 800m (874 yds) per 100g. Baby Lace is a lavish blend of baby alpaca and mulberry silk. Baby alpaca is one of the finest grades of alpaca fibre and one of the most luxurious fibres in the world. Alpaca is said to be three times warmer than sheep’s wool, so fibres have excellent insulation properties whilst remaining light, breathable and strong. It also has hypoallergenic properties because it contains no lanolin, which makes the fibre safe to wear if you have skin allergies. The silk gives it a shiny smooth lustre which feels soft and luxurious to work with.
The yarn is 100% animal fibre and perfect for dyeing. The yarn is a natural bright white colour and would dye up well in subtle light shades or bright and vibrant colours. For bright vibrant colours we recommend using acid or natural dyes. One of the major attractions of alpaca is the drape of the fabric producing beautiful garments, shawls and wraps. In a standard lace weight, it can be used for many lace patterns and with 800m in each skein, many projects will only need one making it great value for money.
