This yarn is shiny, so shiny that it almost looks metallic, although it is pure cotton. It is tightly plied, so it is easy to needle.
The website states that it is “gasierte, mercerisierte ägypt. Baumwolle” which translates in part to “mercerized Egyptian cotton”.
Maybe someone else knows what “gasiert” means.
Gasiert means gassed, or treted with chemicals (subjected to a chemical treatment while being stretched under tension.) Joseph Mercer discovered the process named after him.
