The Polwarth is a cross between the Lincoln and Merino breeds. From the Merino it gets a super-softness, and the Lincoln gives it longer, springier fibres with extra sheen. Both combine to create a soft strong wool that, while not as hardy as a yarn with a nylon base, is a really good pure wool alternative if you want to go completely natural.
