Notes from Spirit Trail that were sent with the yarn:

“The label gives gauge information for a typical aran weight yarn; however, the more I looked at it and handled the yarn the less I believed it to be aran weight. So, I emailed the mill for more information and they sent me a knitting gauge of 5.5 stitches to the inch. 22 stitches over 4 inches is not aran weight (more like DK or light worsted), so I have no idea why they named this yarn “Aran”.
