This yarn is hand-dyed in Maine using an ancient Indonesian technique called Ikat, which means “to tie”. Each skein is wrapped by hand, then carefully dipped into pots of all-natural dye. When the wraps are removed, white resist marks are left behind.

Some colors then go for another dip in a second color of dye.

Once knit, a painterly effect reminiscent of watercolors emerges.
