Starting from grade-A quality 34/36mm staple Chinese fibre with a diameter of less than 15.5 micron. Much of the base product was intended for knitting application, spun and dyed for top Italian fashion houses such as Armani, Dolce & Gabbana and Blue Marine by some of the best Scottish and Italian mills, it has since been spun into a single-ply of Nm 8,000 and then twisted into 2 or 4-ply, with the end result at Nm 4,000, measuring 200m on a 50g ball for hand knitting and crochet use, this product knits at a DK (light worsted) weight on 4mm (USA 6) needles. Typically, 50g will knit a pair of gloves or a hat, 100g a long scarf or small shrug (see pattern here).
