Once upon a time British fishermen wore ganseys: close fitting sweaters with gussets at the underarms to provide ease of movement without adding bulk. This gansey yarn is perfect for knitting traditional ganseys, but also for creating gloves, hats, or socks.

The wool for this yarn came from Coopworth sheep at Buckwheat Blossom Farm, Wiscasset Maine. Buckwheat Blossom Farm is a small, horse powered, biodynamic farm.

Color: This batch of gansey yarn is un-dyed, and owes its distinctive color to the sheep from whence it was shorn. I offer dyed skeins as well.
