The North Ronaldsay sheep is a rare breed from the island of the same name, in the Orkney Islands in Scotland. It’s an ancient breed and is perhaps best known for living on a diet of seaweed for most of the year, as the limited pasture on the island is kept for the lambing season. The yarn is similar to that of the Shetland sheep, with a slightly hairy feel; probably not soft enough to wear next to more sensitive skin, but it is quite hard-wearing and ideal for everyday wear for autumn and winter accessories.
