This is my first crocheted garment pattern. The pattern is above my skill level, but I am ready for a stretch. I did a gauge swatch and it looked like my gauge matched with version (size?) Z. However, now that I am checking my gauge along the way as the pattern directs, I am not so sure that is the size that I want to follow. I am a little confused by how the sizing works since it seems that for all sizes the original chain is the same number of stitches. However, I will continue on. I am finding that as I go forward, the things behind me become more clear. :-)

I had a little confusion about the pattern and when I tried it on, it seemed not big enough. This was at the point where I was dividing off the sleeves. I put it away for awhile to finish the Star Wars characters. Yesterday I got it out again, read the pattern more carefully and realized that I did have the right stitch count after all. The underarm chain seemed a little too tight so I re-did it using a slightly bigger hook and made sure not to pull the chains too tight. Now I am back moving along. This pattern is really interesting and is helping me understand how I could make a crochet top with any shawl pattern.

Followed size A. Notes in the MAD Cap group in a thread for the Latticework CAL were a huge help for seeing the big picture. I have the posts in a bundle in my favorites. I really needed to see how this was going to come together rather than blindly follow steps.

Had another challenge when it came to the edging, but I worked through that puzzle, too. I am really enjoying crochet! Now blocked sweater is drying and I will find buttons from my stash.
