I needed recess from a fingering weight, long-sleeved, hip length sweater in cotton and linen! This is it! I’m using two yarns that I didn’t know what to do with and hadn’t before thought of using together. Playing with the striping since I have about a 3:1 ratio of the merino/tencel to the alpaca. A few false starts for swatching and now I am moving along.

This was in hibernation for all of 2016 and almost half of 2017. I picked it back up to take to Black Sheep Gathering 2017 and got back into the rhythm of it. I don’t really care for the lace mesh parts. I think my yarn and needle combo has made for lots of lost stitches as I SSK. Slippery yarn and slippery needles. Instead of slipping, they just slipped off and then I couldn’t easily pick them up and put them right again with the double sided lace mesh. I’m keeping the mesh sections the same size and increasing the garter sections as I go along. That will help me keep working on this and not avoid it again! At least I hope so…

Bound off today and it is now blocking! It looks great. I blocked the points between the mesh and the garter. I’m not sure if it was supposed to have different shaped edges for the two different sections, but mine did, so I blocked it to exaggerate it and I like the shape.
The blue-gray yarn bled like crazy. I used some Synthrapol to pull the dye out and keep it from dyeing onto the coral. I think it worked well. Can’t really tell until it’s dry.
Used all but 2 oz. of the variegated skein and all but 4 oz. most of the alpaca. Essentially GONE from the stash! :-)
