I knew I wanted this one as soon as I saw the sneak peek on IK website. The green merino was comfortable to knit with and at first the lace pattern grew faster than I could believe. I knit both ends at the same time as KnitMongrel suggests.
After having knit the first repeat of the middle pattern it started to get boring. I think it’s because the pattern repeat is so long that it’s really difficult to memorise, but it still needs to be repeated - if I have to check each row from the chart, I’d rather have each row to be different from the previous ones, you know?
Also, because I had planned to use all 100 grams of yarn for this and after getting to the middle pattern it seemed that I’d have to knit a lot of repeats before the yarn would be all used up… I didn’t feel like knitting this at all. After deciding that I’d make it as long as the pattern says, no matter how much yarn would be left, I felt a lot better about it.
I ended up knitting six repeats of the middle pattern on both sides. The stole looked really small before blocking and I thought it might end up as a scarf, but it came out of the bath as stole-sized after all. A smallish stole, but a stole nevertheless. It’s light and airy and I’m very happy with it - definitely worth all the trouble.

before blocking: 86 cm x 30 cm
