26th June:
I really enjoy crocheting this pattern, and it works up quickly. I’ve decided to make a couple of modifications to the pattern - I’m working out from my starting chain in the other direction too, so that that becomes the centre back and gives the pattern symmetry. It also creates a row of flowers along the centre line. I’m hoping it will end up looking more like this shrug when it’s finished. I’m also going to make the sleeves shorter, and finish the edges with a scalloped edging.
30th June:
This has been really fast to make. I’ve made it as long as I want it (26”), ending on a fan row so the scallops work as the edging, and have just started crocheting up the sleeve sections. I’m doing that with a zig-zagging chain to fit in with the pattern and to add a tiny bit of extra ease under the arms. I’m also finishing off the half fan at the arm ends to make it look better when joined.
28th August:
Haven’t done much crochet over the summer, but picked this up again yesterday to finish off the arm seams, and am now working a row of scallop fan edging around the main opening. It’s looking brilliant! This has been a really easy and quick project, and one I’ll definitely make again in different yarns.
1st September:
Finished the scallop edging, tried it on, and discovered it has now gone all baggy at the bottom edge. I’m going to frog that last side of edging and rework with fewer scallops. It means there will now be a distinct top and bottom to the shrug, but I suppose this is just an issue with using non-stretchy cotton yarn.
