This is my first colorwork project and I’m really anxious and exited about starting it. I’ve chose Comfy Worsted as it is suppose to be a good easy care cotton, soft and easy to work with…we’ll see !
28/02 : Project is cast-on ! I fear I will not have enough ivory yarn with two skein, I should have ordered more. I’ll do the border in flamingo instead, just to be sure.
29/02 : Just did my first fair isle and it is so much fun ! I did the flower and the grass…tomorrow I’ll try the sheep with intarsia.
1/03 : Well…I didn’t do Intarsia ! I decided to go with stranded knitting as I feel that 9 sheep is a bit too much intarsia for a first try.
5/03 : I’m done with the chart…the rest of the cardigan should be a piece of cake. I do understand now why people prefer intarsia for the sheep. It is quite difficult to do stranded work AND switching for purl to knit.
25/03 : 20 days to knit a 6-9 months sweater! Ouch! My baby girl sure takes all my free time. Bought buttons today. Just need to do finishing touches and to block it…pictures coming soon !
29/03 : Finally done ! I doesn’t fit quite well on the arms and it is quite small. My daughter on the pictures is 6 and a half months and she weights about 17 lbs. Sure I had problems with my button band, I should have put 6 instead of 5 buttons.
Reading other ravelers comment I found FO tend to be too big. Well, I guess I am a really stiff knitter!
The pattern is not the best written pattern I’ve work with, it was missing a lot of details. All in all great project to learn colorwork, can’t wait to do other fair isle or stranded work.
