10/14/12- I’m testing a pattern for Hillary and it’s going to end up as a Christmas gift :) It’s really cute, but not the type of hat I can wear myself (because of all the curly hair). I decided to use the skein of Tonos Chunky that I’d taken home to swatch a failed design with.

Knitting a medium with bulky yarn.

10/15/12- overestimated how much yarn I had in that skein of Tonos Chunky, and had to add in some white Malabrigo Twist (held double) to extend the yardage. The stripes are sort of pretty.

10/16/12 okay…so I can’t count. I went to decrease the called-for number of sts and discovered that I originally picked up five less than I should have. this won’t really affect anything, other than throwing off my decreases a bit. I’m thinking about pulling back and starting again just to be sure that the decrease section (as written) is correct in the pattern, which is really the point of a test knit.

10/17/12 I’m so fickle. I found a partial ball of the Tonos Chunky in the same color so I pulled back the crown of the hat and decided to knit it without striping. I’ll use my Malabrigo for something else awesome ;)

10/18/12 Wow!! I had just enough yarn in the one skein I had to finish the hat, with about 1 yard to spare. Crappy self-photos have been taken and I’ll upload them (or hopefully better ones) once I get the o.k.
