this is my second shop sample for Bella Yarns. I’ll be using the misti alpaca Tonos in the most beautiful semi-solid red. I’ll cast on after the Olympics is over (and I accept that I can’t knit an Aran sweater in 17 days with school and a 3 year old).
I’m 6 rows from completing this sweater and it just flew! A really interesting pattern construction, and the yarn kept me hooked when I hit the long sections of straight stitch in the sleeves. I just tried this on and the sizing is spot on! I’m going to add 2-3 inches to the length just because of my being 6’ and all… and then I’ll work the hem and the icord neck line (which will be a first for me) Over all, a totally satisfying knit.
ps- please excuse the crap photos. I used the camera on my computer just to see how it fit me but there will be much better photos when it’s done.
03/24/10 Done, done, and done! It’s a beautiful sweater, the yarn is amazing and I love how they worked out together. I ended up adding 2 inches to the bottom, and working the icord around the neck and the sleeves to keep them from curling up. I found that the attached icord pulled the neck in, (as well as the sleeves..I lost an inch) so I switched to 5mm double points to give me a little more ease. Blocking photos will come…as soon as my husband stops playing call of duty on xbox live.
10/21/11- unfortunately, this sweater looked terrible on me and I only wore it once. I decided to frog it and I’m using the yarn to test-knit Julissa instead. I know I’ll wear this sweater more than Sayuri, and this yarn is just too lovely to sit on a shelf in my closet.
