You know that part of Sonic 3 when Dr. Robotnik bombs Angel Island and everything is on fire? I always thought it was odd. This bag reminds me of that scene.
The pattern is very simple and extremely quick. I crocheted the bag with just one strand of yarn, so it’s still floppy like the other one (the rainbow bag). I did, however, double the yarn on the handle to make them sturdier. I originally planned to have the handles in one color, but decided to incorporate all three colours.
Right now, the bag is finished. I just have to attach the handles. Unfortunately, that has been somewhat of a challenge. I’m still trying to figure out a way to do that in a manner I like. The handles are thick and difficult to sew.
I think next time I’ll make the version with the long handles. (>.>)/
Update 6/28/2011
Finished the handles today. Originally, I had tried to attach the handles on the wrong side of the work using a square outline, like in sewing, but didn’t like the look. Decided to simply whip stitch the handles onto the wrong side near the top of the purse body. I tied the two threads of yarn together and wove in the ends. Attaching the handles this way seems to reduce bulk, so I’m pleased. And the whip stitching doesn’t look that bad.
I noticed today that there is a bag with a similar colour palette to mine in the long handled version. I thought it was kind of weird. ^__^
